WICKER PARK — Chicago police are investigating the Wicker Park carjacking of a 32-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter.

At 11:36 p.m. Wednesday, the woman and her daughter were sitting inside a 2017 Cadillac sedan in the 1200 block of North Hoyne Avenue when two men approached the car and broke the driver’s window with a baseball bat, a police report said.

The woman and child were then forced out of the vehicle and the two men stole the car. There were no injuries reported and no one was in custody Thursday.

Those with information, including neighbors with video footage, should contact detectives at 312-746-7394.

As of last month, there had been 368 carjackings in Chicago in 2021 — more than double the amount over the same time last year, which was also more than double the number of carjackings from the year prior.
