EDGEWATER — A vaccination clinic will be held at the Broadway Armory on Tuesday, offering appointments for residents of the 48th Ward.

Vaccinations will be appointment only from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 at the Broadway Armory, 5917 N. Broadway. Appointments will be available to those who live or work in the 48th Ward, which covers much of Edgewater and the northern end of Uptown.

All residents that fall in the 1A, 1B or 1C categories are eligible for appointments at the clinic, though priority will be given to senior citizens and essential workers, Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) said in an email announcement to constituents.

To register for an appointment, click here. Those without internet or who need help registering can call the 48th Ward Vaccine Helpline at 224-698-7507. For more information, email 48thwardcovid@gmail.com.

Those who register for a vaccine appointment will automatically be registered for a second dose to be administered at the Broadway Armory on April 27. The Pfizer vaccine will be administered at the clinic, Osterman said.

“Please take advantage of this opportunity to get the vaccine locally in our community, and share the information with your neighbors,” Osterman said in the announcement.

The vaccine clinic is a partnership between the 48th Ward, Jewel-Osco and the Chicago Park District, which operates the armory.

At a hearing of the City Council’s Health Committee last week, Osterman said there were still seniors in his community that were experiencing roadblocks in receiving the vaccine. Osterman joined other Far North Side alderman in calling for more vaccine resources in the area.

On Tuesday, city officials announced that a mass vaccination site will soon open at Wrigley Field, offering about 2,000 doses per day.
