Manny’s Deli Will Give Away 1,000 Sandwiches If People Come In Wearing A Mask Properly. Can You Pull It Off This Time, Chicago?

Earlier this month, the restaurant said it would give away sandwiches if customers could keep on their masks for 30 straight days. Within hours, someone broke the streak.

SOUTH LOOP — Manny’s Cafeteria and Delicatessen is offering 1,000 sandwiches for customers who come in properly masked up Tuesday.

Manny’s, one of Chicago’s oldest and most revered restaurants, will offer up to 1,000 free sandwiches to customers who come in with properly-worn mask staring at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The deli is at 1141 S. Jefferson St.

Manny’s will also send sandwiches to frontline workers at a vaccine clinic.

Earlier this month, the restaurant launched an initiative aimed at giving away sandwiches if customers could keep their masks on for 30 straight days, according to the Tribune.

However, it only took a few hours before a customer walked in without properly wearing their mask, owner Dan Raskin told the Tribune.

Despite customers losing the challenge, a person donated money to cover free sandwiches Tuesday. The challenge is aimed at raising awareness around the public health measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.
