CHICAGO — A coronavirus vaccination drive is being held this weekend for residents of Gage Park.

The event is Saturday at St. Gall Church, 5511 S. Sawyer Ave. All of the appointments have been filled, but a limited number of walk-ups will be accepted. Vaccinations are free. No insurance is required.

Registration will begin 3 p.m. for people trying to get a walk-up slot, with those vaccinations given starting at 4 p.m. People who aren’t able to get a walk-up spot can sign up for future vaccine events in Gage Park.

Any Gage Park resident is eligible for the vaccinations.

The event is part of the city’s Protect Chicago Plus initiative to get vaccine doses to communities hit hard by the pandemic. It’s being organized by the city’s health department, St. Gall Catholic Church, the Southwest Organizing Project, Friend Health and Catholic Charities.
