CHICAGO — The city will see sun and 50-degree weather this weekend.

The warmup is a relief to many, as Chicago has been pummeled by more than 19 inches of snow and below-average cold during February. This week saw temperatures creep into the mid-40s at points, but even nicer weather is coming.

Friday will be sunny with an expected high temperature of 42 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. There will be wind gusts up to 25 mph.

The warmest part of the weekend will come Saturday: It could hit 50 degrees in Chicago, and the day will be mostly sunny.

It could rain early Sunday, but the skies will be partly sunny during the day, according to the weather agency. It could warm up to 46 degrees with wind gusts up to 30 mph.

Monday will see temperatures dip, with a high of 37 degrees expected, but it will be sunny.

Tuesday will warm up again to 48 degrees, though, and it will stay sunny, according to the weather agency. Temperatures will stay in the mid-40s Wednesday and Thursday.
