LITTLE VILLAGE — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois will host a virtual grand opening Saturday for a wellness hub in Little Village.
Supporters of the Blue Door Neighborhood Center will gather 10 a.m.-noon for a virtual grand opening and ribbon cutting for the center, 2551 W. Cermak Road.
The Blue Door team will host virtual programs, including Zumba, cooking demonstrations and informational session on programs and services they’ll offer. The event will be hosted on WebEx and streamed on Facebook.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois announced plans in March for the Little Village center. The facility aims to promote health and wellness on the Southwest Side. An opening date for in-person programming has not been set.
The center will span 9,000 square feet and offer low-impact fitness classes, one-on-one appointments with health educators and health literacy classes, including ones on how to manage diabetes and eat healthy.
Blue Door Neighborhood Center will also offer a community room for local nonprofits with a mission of creating healthier communities.
Services will be open to non-Blue Cross and Blue Shield Illinois members.
