Lagunitas Taproom Will Likely Stay Closed All Of 2021, Brewery Says

After closing in mid-March, the Douglas Park brewery is waiting to reopen until the coronavirus pandemic subsides, a company spokesperson said.

Lagunitas Brewing, which closed their taproom following the first stay at home order in mid-March 2020, is eyeing late-2022 for a reopening.

DOUGLAS PARK— Lagunitas Brewery likely won’t be reopening its taproom until next year because of the ongoing pandemic, company officials said.

Lagunitas closed their taproom, 2607 W. 17th St., following the first stay-at-home order in mid-March 2020. A spokesman confirmed that closure will be indefinite because of the pandemic.

“We will reopen as soon as we feel it is safe to do so, but it’s obviously hard to predict when that might be,” Lagunitas spokesman Max Wertheimer said in an email.

Last week, company CMO Paige Guzman told the Tribune they won’t open until the pandemic was over and she’d “be surprised” if they reopened this year.

The brewery is exploring a pop-up taproom during the summer, according to the Tribune.

Lagunitas opened its Chicago location in 2014.
