NORTH LAWNDALE — A city-run coronavirus testing site has moved from Saucedo Scholastic Academy in Little Village to Douglass Park in nearby North Lawndale.

On Monday, the city officially opened the testing site at Douglass Park, near South California Avenue and West 15th Place, city officials confirmed.

Testing hours at the site are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The city ended testing at Saucedo Scholastic Academy on Wednesday.

The city previously planned to move the testing site at Saucedo to Farragut Career Academy High School, but the plan was nixed after neighbors raised concerns, an alderman said at the time.

The city had been looking for a new testing site since the summer because at the time Chicago Public Schools was mulling over the idea of returning to school in some limited capacity, city officials said.

The Chicago Department of Public Health initially planned on moving sites “due to potential conflicts with other scheduled activities at Saucedo,” Erica Duncan, a spokeswoman for the department, previously told Block Club Chicago.
