LOGAN SQUARE — Health care workers can get free coffee at two Logan Square coffee shops during January — and possibly longer — thanks to a community partnership.
Starting Jan. 4, independent coffee shops necessary & sufficient coffee at 3624 W. Wrightwood Ave. and Sip of Hope at 3039 W. Fullerton Ave. will give free coffee to doctors, nurses and other health care workers who have spent months working on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Caffeinate the Caretakers program is slated to end Jan. 31, but neighbors can extend it by donating to the cause online.
The program is a partnership between the neighborhood coffee shops, Kambs Jennings Group of Compass Mortgage and the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce.
Kate Vrijmoet, owner of necessary & sufficient coffee, said in a news release “independent cafes play a powerful role in a neighborhood — providing a way for neighbors to connect.”
“We have to take care of each other and keep each other safe,” Vrijmoet said.
Those interested in sponsoring the program should email Nilda Esparza, interim executive director for the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce, at info@loganchamber.org.
