CHATHAM — The Chicago Community Blood Center is looking for residents to participate in its weekend blood drive at Josephine’s Cafe in Chatham.
People can donate blood 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the restaurant, 436 E. 79th St. Free to-go Thanksgiving meals will be given out to donors on a first-come, first-served basis, as long as supplies last.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. Donors can schedule appointments at Save3Lives.org or by calling 800-280-4102. Social distancing guidelines will be observed.
Other community partners include My Block, My Hood, My City and the office of Ald. Roderick Sawyer (6th).
The Chicago Community Blood Center moved into the building formerly occupied by Urban Partnership Bank last year. The organization’s goal is to increase blood donations in Black communities.
