WICKER PARK — This fall you can lace up your running shoes to help small businesses.

The WPB Virtual 5K fundraiser will raise money to support small businesses in Wicker Park and Bucktown.

Sponsored by the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, the race is timed with Small Business Saturday, which falls on Nov. 28 this year. Racers are encouraged to run Nov. 28 and celebrate by shopping at their favorite local stores, whether doing it in person or through curbside or delivery.

The official 5K route will run through the business districts of Wicker Park and Bucktown.

Registration is $35 for adults and $20 for children. Register online.

Runners will receive a T-shirt depicting Team Wicker Park or Team Bucktown, along with participants’ names listed on the back. Registrants will also receive a virtual goodie bag with special offers from local businesses in Wicker Park and Bucktown.

The registration fee partially covers the shirts, spokeswoman Elizabeth Neukrich said in an email. Remaining funds will go directly into the marketing and promotions budget for the chamber’s “shop small” campaign.

T-shirts will be available for pickup the week after Small Business Saturday.
