RAVENSWOOD — More than a year after the initial announcement, the Culver’s in Ravenswood is set to open in the spring.

Neighbors have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Culver’s at 1819 W. Montrose Ave. since July 2019, when a sign was put up saying the restaurant would open soon.

A spokesperson at the time said plans for the location were still very preliminary and no construction timetable was in place.

More than a year went by with no announcements from the company.

“As a native of Wisconsin who lived on frozen custard, I’ve been waiting anxiously for this to open but nothing seems to be happening,” said Sharon Houtkamp, a neighbor.

Culver’s spokesperson Alison Wedig confirmed Tuesday the targeted opening is this spring.

The current timeline was not affected by the pandemic, Wedig said.

Besides frozen custard, the Wisconsin-based chain is known for its cheese curds and butter burgers. The Montrose Avenue site will be the restaurant’s third location in Chicago.
