LOGAN SQUARE — Several garages have been targeted in burglaries in Logan Square and Avondale in recent weeks, according to police.
In a community alert issued Thursday, police said at least four garages have been broken into in the area since Oct. 22.
In all of the incidents, someone broke into the garage, stole the victim’s belongings and then fled the scene, police say.
The burglaries occurred in the:
- 2900 block of North Washtenaw Avenue, Oct. 22-23 sometime between 10 p.m. – 6:45 a.m.
- 2700 block of North California Avenue, Oct. 23 at 3:30 a.m.
- 2800 block of North Sawyer Avenue, Oct. 30 at 12:30 a.m.
- 2700 block of West Barry Avenue, Oct. 30-31 sometime between 9 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
No other information was provided. Police encourage anyone with information about these crimes to contact Area Five detectives at (312) 746-7394.
Police recently issued a similar community alert about a series of garage burglaries in West Town last month. In that case, police allege one person was forcing open garages and stealing power tools.
