ENGLEWOOD — Free coronavirus testing, HIV testing and more will be available at a wellness fair Friday in Englewood.
The fair runs 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 6715 S. Wentworth Ave. Residents can drive or walk up to receive free COVID-19 testing, HIV testing or a flu vaccination.
There will be free snacks available, and personal protective equipment from Meridian Health and baby diapers and formula from local nonprofit Black Girls Break Bread will be given away. Training for administering Narcan — an emergency medication used to treat drug overdoses — will also be available.
Staff from Family Christian Health Center will administer nose swab tests for COVID-19, with results expected within 48 hours.
People with identification and insurance may bring both, but neither are required.
The fair is organized by developer Sterling Bay in partnership with several Englewood-based community groups. They are hosting it due to the quickly worsening outbreak of coronavirus in Chicago.
The fair is expected to serve more than 200 families, said Keiana Barrett, Sterling Bay’s director of diversity and strategic development,
