MARQUETTE PARK — A 7-month-old baby boy has been located safely after someone stole the car he was in outside a Southwest Side convenience store Monday afternoon, according to Chicago Police.
At about 12:45 p.m., a 30-year-old woman left her 7-month-old son, Jaylen Mojica, in her car and went inside a store in the 2700 block of West 71st Street, police said. When she came out, she found that the car and her baby were gone.
Police found the car more than nine miles away in the 1400 block of South Keeler Avenue about two hours later, but Jaylen wasn’t inside, police said.
Police sent another alert around 8:30 p.m. saying officers located Jaylen safely. No other details were immediately available.
Chicago Police worked with federal authorities to help find Jaylen. Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information can contact Area One Detectives at 312-747-8380.
