ENGLEWOOD — St. Bernard Hospital is offering free mammograms to Chicago-area residents as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Through Oct. 31, people can schedule an appointment at the hospital, 324 W. 64th St. Mammography patients will be able to unwind in the hospital’s ambient relaxation room, where they can relax in one of the massage chairs while sipping flavored water.
Those interested can call 773-488-7824 to schedule an appointment.
By the end of this year, an estimated 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer will have been diagnosed in women in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society. Illinois accounts for 11,020 of those cases.
Men are expected to count for 2,620 new cases of invasive breast cancer this year.
The hospital is also offering free coronavirus testing Saturday through its mobile care unit. Families can stop by the temporary testing site 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 415 W. Englewood Ave.
