CHICAGO — A 13-year-old girl was wounded and a man killed in a Tuesday shooting in West Humboldt Park.
At 4:45 p.m., the two were standing on a porch in the 900 block of North Lawndale Avenue when a driver went by and someone in the car fired shots, police said.
The girl was hit in her chest and the man, 23, was hit in his armpit and chin. They were taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said, and the man later died.
The gunman was in a red car. No one was in custody and an investigation was ongoing.
This year has seen an uptick in shootings of children, with hundreds wounded and dozens slain.
