CHICAGO — A 10-year-old girl was shot Wednesday night at a Far South Side park.
At 8:14 p.m., the girl was with friends in Russell Square Park in the 8300 block of South South Shore Drive when someone walked up to them and fired shots, police said.
The girl was hit in her back and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious condition.
No one was in custody. Detectives were investigating.
The girl is the latest among a string of children who have been shot in Chicago this year. More than 300 children younger than 18 have been shot this year.
