CHICAGO — Another 32 people were reported to have died from coronavirus during the past day in Illinois.
Six of the victims were in Cook County. The virus has now killed at least 8,910 Illinoisans.
The past day also saw another 3,059 cases reported, bringing the total number of confirmed cases up to 310,700 in Illinois. The state’s positivity rate rose to 3.7 percent.
While the state has not reached more than 3,000 cases in one day since May, the positivity rate at that time was 17 percent, the Sun-Times reports. More than 72,491 tests were processed in the past day, one of the biggest testing days on record here.
As of Wednesday night, 1,755 people were hospitalized with coronavirus in Illinois, including 392 people in the ICU and 163 people using ventilators.
In Chicago, an average of 334 new cases of coronavirus are being reported and three people are dying per day. The city’s positivity rate has risen to 4.2 percent.
At least 2,982 people have died from coronavirus in Chicago, and there have been 82,551 confirmed cases.
