ANDERSONVILLE — The parking lot behind Cheetah Gym will be turned into a movie theater Wednesday.

The lot behind the gym at 5248 N. Clark St. will be sectioned into rectangles where groups of people can reserve a spot for a double billing of “A Goofy Movie” and “A League of Their Own.” It will run 6-10 p.m. Wednesday.

A 5-by-7-foot rectangle can be reserved for $45 for up to four adults or two adults with three children. Cheetah Gym’s parking lot is enclosed by a brick fence, allowing for some privacy from the alley.

Concessions can be ordered in advance, including buckets of beer and wine from neighboring Farragut’s Bar. Popcorn and candy can also be ordered. Attendees are encouraged to order take out from Reza’s, whose owner also owns Cheetah Gym, or from other Andersonville restaurants.

Guests are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets. “A Goofy Movie” will begin at 6:15 p.m. and “A League of Their Own” at 7:50 p.m.

The event is a fundraiser for the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, which has taken a financial hit after summer festivals and other chamber fundraisers were canceled due to the coronavirus. It is a take on the city’s Movies in the Parks series, which was one of the few summer events not canceled this year.
