Block Club’s new text hotline launches today, giving us the ability to connect with readers and share breaking news through texts.
This service is partially automated and powered by GroundSource. When you text us, you’ll get initial responses we’ve programmed based on the message you send in. But the Block Club Chicago team is still reading your messages throughout the day and may personally follow up with you.
The first feature we’re rolling out with this service is our breaking news alerts. When news breaks, you’ll get a message from us with the information you need and a link to the story.
After you sign up, you’ll be asked for your name and ZIP code. This lets us know where our readers are and will help us send you neighborhood-specific stories in the future.
Standard message rates apply for this service, and you can text HELP at any time to manage your account preferences. Text STOP at any time to permanently unsubscribe.
There are two easy ways to sign up for the hotline and breaking news alerts: You can text “news” to 872-245-5222 or you can enter your phone number in the box below:
If you have any questions or problems, please email firstname.lastname@example.org!
