ENGLEWOOD — Several hometown celebrities will face off in a friendly Iron Chef-style competition in support of Growing Home Thursday.
The organization’s First Annual Virtual Cooking Kickoff will also feature recipe demos (using fresh produce from Growing Home’s Englewood farm) and appearances by Iron Chef America Judge Mario Rizzotti, Justice of the Pies baker and philanthropist Chef Maya-Camille Broussard, Chef Bernard Bennett and Chef Rick Rodriguez.
The show begins at 6 p.m.
While the event is free, viewers will have an opportunity to donate through raffles and a silent auction. All proceeds will go directly to Growing Home, Inc.
Growing Home is a nonprofit that for 17 years has provided formerly incarcerated Englewood residents with job training and wraparound services to prepare them for careers in agriculture and food service. After entering a 14-week program that give them hands-on experience, participants go on to work for places like Eataly, Whole Foods and sweetgreen.
