ENGLEWOOD — A neighborhood group is organizing a community cleanup event Saturday morning on a series of residential streets in Englewood.

What About the Children Here is calling on all Southwest Side residents and property owners to help “restore the community,” block by block, targeting the 7100 and 7200 blocks of South Green, Peoria, Sangamon and Morgan streets.

The cleanup will run 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

There will be free refreshments and an opportunity for volunteers to find out about jobs, grants and other resources in their area. People will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing.

What About The Children is organizing the cleanup in partnership with Ald. Rod Sawyer (6th) and a variety of local groups.
