ENGLEWOOD — The Youth Matters March will hit West Englewood Sunday, featuring live music, free food and a back to school giveaway.

While Chicago Public Schools students will learn remotely this fall, the need for school supplies — and fun — is still great, said Barbie Jones, event co-organizer and MBM Dance Team coach.

“A new school year is a time for excitement and anticipation. We want to give the kids the feeling of a new beginning and ignite their eagerness to learn, despite the challenges of the pandemic,” said Jones, who is organizing the event with Mr. Dad’s Father’s Club.

More than 100 students are set to march at 10 a.m. Sunday from 7900 S. Racine Ave. to Ogden Park, 6500 S. Racine Ave., where the event will end with live music and a raffle. Prizes include sneakers and laptops.

Rapper Sasha Go Hard is scheduled to appear as a celebrity judge.
