WEST HUMBOLDT PARK — Local organizations are teaming up to give out hundreds of fresh produce boxes to people in need in West Humboldt Park this weekend.
The giveaway is slated to kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday at 3601 W. Chicago Ave.
La Casa Norte is partnering with the Kells Park Community Council and the Northwest Food Partners Network on the giveaway.
More than 1,600 large boxes of fresh produce will be available for pickup.
The boxes are being provided by the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program.
People picking up boxes are encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
