ENGLEWOOD — Live in or around Englewood? Mr. Dad’s Father’s Club will be giving away 500 free face masks to neighborhood residents Saturday.

Volunteers will start distributing masks and 150 bags of free books for kids — courtesy of Bernie’s Book Bank — at 2 p.m. at 6300 S. Ashland Ave.

Citing the lack of personal protective equipment reaching Black and Brown communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization wants to do its part to keep their neighbors safe.

Founded by Joseph Williams in 2017, Mr. Dad’s Father’s Club provides mentoring and literacy support to kids and young adults in Chicago.

Block Club Chicago’s coronavirus coverage is free for all readers. Block Club is an independent, 501(c)(3), journalist-run newsroom.
