BRONZEVILLE — Several local organizations are joining together to host a food and hand sanitizer giveaway at a South Side school Friday afternoon.

Social Change and Vic Mensa’s Save Money Save Life Foundation will distribute over 10,000 pounds of food and hundreds of gallons of hand sanitizer at 4 p.m. at Bronzeville Charter Academy, 4930 S. Cottage Grove Ave.

The food and hand sanitizer was donated by Tyson Foods and White Glove, respectively.

Social Change, a nonprofit led by lawyer Todd Balcore, and Save Money, Save Life are among several local organizations providing South Side families with necessities to get through the COVID-19 crisis. Their joint efforts have helped over 7,000 families since the crisis began, delivering weekly care packages to residents living in underserved neighborhoods.

“It’s clear that we’re in the midst of a crisis where inaction means death,” Belcore said in a statement. “Knowing that, and given Social Change’s unconditional love for humanity, not doing whatever we can to help was not an option.”
