AUBURN GRESHAM — Southwest Side residents can receive free coronavirus testing on Friday in Auburn Gresham.

From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Howard Brown Health will be administering tests in the parking lot of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 8401 S. Ashland Ave.

People who want to be tested must wear a facial covering.

Friday’s pop-up testing site comes as officials push for more widespread testing in underserved communities hit hard by the virus.

As of early April, more than 72 percent of coronavirus deaths in Chicago were Black residents, but only 30 percent of Chicagoans are Black, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said at the time.

Christian Community Health Center recently opened a drive-thru testing site in another part of Auburn Gresham. WGN reported Monday that Access Ashland Family Health Center opened a free testing site in Englewood.
