EAST PILSEN — A local chamber of commerce is handing out free groceries to Pilsen families in need Saturday in the South Side neighborhood.
The Economic Strategies Development Corporation, formerly known as the Eighteenth Street Development Corporation, will pass out food to families starting 10 a.m. Saturday at Ozinga, 2255 S. Lumber St.
The chamber expects to distribute 600 boxes of groceries, which will include dairy products, produce and other food items, during a three-stop food giveaway, said the chamber’s director, Alex Esparza.
The chamber is working with Cermak Fresh Market, VV Supremo, Ozinga and other businesses for the drive-up food distribution event.
The Economic Strategies Development Corporation has hosted other food distribution days in Pilsen, Chinatown and East Side.
