DOWNTOWN — What do Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Will Smith and your bored 13-year-old all have in common?
They are all on TikTok.
Lightfoot joined the social media platform for sharing short, memeable videos Wednesday. Her first dance video announced CPS’ citywide high school graduation ceremony to be held in mid-June, which will feature Oprah Winfrey as the commencement speaker.
Sporting a graduation cap and custom white Vans reading “Madam Mayor,” Lightfoot dances to rapper K CAMP’s “Lottery (Renegade),” one of the most popular songs on the social networking site.
Lightfoot is Chicago’s first TikTok-ing mayor, but she’s not the first one to strut her dance moves in public.
Former Mayor Rahm Emanuel was famously spotted dancing to Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” at Taste of Chicago in 2013 and at a handful of other concerts over the years.
