WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Another Coronavirus testing site has opened on the Southwest Side with the goal of making testing more accessible in areas harder hit by the disease.
Christian Community Health Center, 9718 S. Halsted, is offering drive-thru testing for those who fear they may have contracted the virus, free of charge. Residents can call 773-233-4100 to schedule an appointment and complete a screening.
The announcement comes several weeks after nearby Roseland Community Hospital began onsite drive-thru testing earlier this month. Christian Community Health Center has an additional drive-thru testing site at its South Holland location, which is also appointment-only.
Southwest Side neighborhoods have seen a steady increase in recorded COVID-19 cases as testing has become more widely available.
As of Tuesday, Chicago has 18,679 confirmed COVID-19 cases, while the state has 48,000 overall, according to Illinois Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike.
