GRAND BOULEVARD — In a dream collaboration, two hometown favorites have teamed up to bring a little joy to the South Side during a pandemic.

Fans of Lincoln Park’s Batter & Berries won’t have to travel to the North Side to get their fix. The popular brunch spot recently brought its menu to Bronzeville’s Shawn Michelle’s Homemade Ice Cream, 46 E. 47th St., as part of a weekend pop-up shop.

According to Shawn Michelle’s owner, Yahya Muhammad, the collaboration has been a hit.

“We started around the beginning of the month. We have the same customer base, so it made sense. People have been coming in to show their support,” Muhammed said.

The pop-up, which runs Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offers brunch stapes like caramel French toast a la mode, roasted salmon croquettes and a buttermilk fried chicken and cheddar biscuit sandwich.

Curbside pickup is available, and soon customers will be able to order online from Shawn Michelle’s website, added Muhammed. For now, customers can order takeout by calling 773-615-3238.

The ice cream parlor also plans to start delivering to Kenwood, Bronzeville, Hyde Park and Woodlawn. Customers interested in the service can contact the store to have their name added to a list to be notified about these options.
