LINCOLN SQUARE — Lincoln Square’s Maifest is canceled because of coroanvirus, officials announced.

The annual street fest was scheduled for the weekend of May 29 but Dank Haus announced in an email Friday it would be canceled this year.

The annual street festival takes over the heart of Lincoln Square every summer and benefits a number of German organizations, including Dank Haus, the American Aid Society, the Donauschwaben Youth Group and German American Policy.

“As many of you know, Dank Haus is a vendor at Maifest. We rely on our beer and food sales as a way to earn revenue for our community cultural center,” the email said. “Traditionally the festival brings in $75,000 per year. The DANK Haus has lost over $140,000 due to closures and cancelations through May.”

Dank Haus is asking people to donate here to help cover its losses from event cancellations due to the pandemic.
