NEAR WEST SIDE — To meet growing demand, the Greater Chicago Food Depository will use the United Center as a satellite storage facility on the Near West Side.
The Greater Chicago Food Depository will store food at the United Center, 1901 W. Adams St. They’ll also use the arena to accommodate more volunteers to help package food for families, according to a press release.
Last week, the United Center announced it was converting the arena and its parking lots into a logistics hub for first responders and to help distribute medical supplies.
City, state and federal officials responding to the coronavirus pandemic will stage their operations at the home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks.
Over the weekend, Project C.U.R.E hosted a drive to gather masks and other medical supplies for health care workers and first responders at the United Center.
