ENGLEWOOD — A traffic accident Thursday morning in Englewood left two people injured, according to Chicago Police.
At about 11:54 a.m., a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 69-year-old man was traveling westbound in the right lane near the intersection of 59th Street and Ashland Avenue. Attempting to change lanes to avoid a stationary CTA bus, but was unable to overcome a semi-truck in the center lane, according to police The SUV then struck the bus, started to spin, and hit the semi-truck, a police spokesperson said.
When police arrived on the scene, one pedestrian was on the ground and one person was stuck in a car.
A 63-year-old man, a passenger in the Equinox, was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition. Others declined medical treatment, according to police.
The driver was cited for failure to stay in lane, police said.
The Chicago Police and Chicago Fire Department continue to investigate.
