AVONDALE — A 19-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery Friday afternoon in Avondale, police said.
The shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. in the 3200 block of North Drake Avenue, according to Steve Rusanov, a Chicago Police spokesman.
The 19-year-old victim was in the street when a robber came up to him, took out a gun and demanded the victim’s belongings, Rusanov said. There was a struggle, and the robber shot the victim in the neck.
The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital. Police could not provide his condition, saying only that he was “stable.”
Detectives are investigating.
