WICKER PARK — Business that have been open in Wicker Park and Bucktown for at least 15 years will be honored Wednesday by the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce.
The 92 businesses, which opened between 1920 and 2005, will be honored as part of the Legacy Business Recognition Program from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division St.
The event is open to the public.
At a time when so many neighborhoods in Chicago are “concerned about small businesses getting pushed out,” the program identifies businesses that are still kicking, chamber spokesperson Elizabeth Neukirch said.
For example, Rite Liquors, 1649 W. Division St., opened in 1920, Alliance Bakery, 1736 W. Division St., opened in 1923 and Rainbo Club, 1150 N. Damen Ave., opened in 1936.
Younger businesses listed include The Handlebar, which opened at 2311 W. North Ave. in 2003, Revolution Tattoo, which opened at 2221 N. Western Ave. in 2004, and Mindy’s Hot Chocolate, which opened at 1747 N. Damen Ave. in 2005.

Legacy businesses are not limited to members of the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, Neukirch said.
