HUMBOLDT PARK — Harrison’s, the coffee shop that took over for Cup & Spoon in Humboldt Park last January, has closed after about a year of business.
The closure was announced in an Instagram post on Monday
“We are sad to announce that Sunday, Feb. 23 was the final day of Harrison’s service. We will miss our regulars dearly, and are sorry that you’re losing a neighborhood spot,” the post reads.
“We are exploring the option of passing the space to new ownership- stay tuned for more on that, and for news on the continuation of the Harrison’s brand.”
Coffee industry veteran Todd Burbo opened Harrison’s at 2415 W. North Ave. last spring. The coffee shop replaced Cup & Spoon, a coffee shop that had called the storefront home for five years.
It’s unclear why Harrison’s closed. Burbo, who worked for various indie coffee chains before opening Harrison’s, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
When he took over the space, Burbo set out to keep the coffee shop’s neighborhood feel, but add an event space. He raised a little more than $3,700 on IndieGoGo to get the event space component off the ground.
