OLD IRVING PARK — Beloved Vietnamese restaurant Tank Noodle plans to open a second location in Old Irving Park this summer.

The owners of Tank Noodle applied for a liquor license at 4706-4710 W. Irving Park Road earlier this month. Gwen Ly, a manager with the restaurant, said they expect to open in May or June.

“We’ll have all the same popular items that our customers like,” she said. “But the new Irving Park location will have a bar, so that will be new.”

With that new bar will come a new cocktail menu featuring Vietnamese drinks infused with alcohol.

“We thought opening the second location in Old Irving Park would be a good idea because it’s a very up and coming area,” she said. “There seem to be a lot of development projects now happening that would be a great compliment to opening a new location for Tank Noodle.”

Tank Noodle’s current location in Uptown has an expansive menu that includes pho, vermicelli, egg rolls, spring rolls and more. The restaurant has also been voted the city’s best Vietnamese restaurant by the Chicago Reader three times.

The Uptown location won’t be impacted by the new spot.
