WEST LOOP — A man robbed a West Loop convenience store at gunpoint early Friday morning, police said.
At 2:58 a.m., a man walked in and pointed a gun to a sales clerk at a convenience store in the 500 block of West Lake Street and demanded the employee open the register, said Kellie Bartoli, a police spokeswoman.
The man took an unknown amount of cash and cigarettes before getting into the passenger seat of a white SUV and leaving the scene, Bartoli said.
The clerk, who was unharmed, was unable to see the driver of the getaway SUV, Bartoli said.
No one is in custody and police are investigating.
