Smoking Car Catches Fire In Wicker Park

Two women were in the car traveling north when the vehicle began to smoke, police said. Neither woman was injured.

WICKER PARK — A car caught fire in Wicker Park on Monday, leaving smoke billowing at the corner of Pierce and Ashland avenues.

The car caught fire at about 6:20 p.m., Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said. Officials are not investigating the cause.

According to a police report, two women were in the car traveling north when the vehicle began to smoke. They parked the car on Pierce Avenue, where the car caught fire.

Neither woman was injured, Chicago Police Department spokesperson Kellie Bartoli said.
