LITTLE VILLAGE — Two people were killed and two more were wounded in three separate Little Village shootings over the weekend, police said.
At 9:50 p.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old man was walking in the 4100 block of West 27th Street when he heard shots and felt pain, police said.
The man, who was shot in his stomach, said he didn’t see the gunman or know where the shots came from. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition, police said.
Several hours earlier, at 2:56 a.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old woman and 23-year-old man were sitting in the back seat of a car traveling southbound in the 3100 block of South California Avenue when they stopped at a red light, police said. A dark SUV drove alongside and fired several shots before fleeing eastbound on 31st Street, police said.
The woman was shot in her hip and listed in fair condition. The man was shot in his torso, back and leg, and was later pronounced dead, police said.
The 23-year-old man was identified as Luis Maldonado by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
At 11:37 p.m. Saturday, a 20-year-old man was standing on the 2200 block of South Whipple Street when someone in a black sedan fired shots, police said.
The man was shot several times and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
He was identified as Eduardo Garcia and his death was ruled a homicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
No one is in custody, and Area Central detectives are investigating.
