FULTON RIVER DISTRICT — Police are warning residents after a man was kidnapped and robbed after leaving a bar earlier this month in the Fulton River District.
At 2 a.m. Jan. 16, a man left a bar near Grand Avenue and Halsted Street when a gold, four-door 2003 Acura MDX with a sunroof pulled up. The victim got in the car thinking it was his ride share vehicle, police said in a community alert.
When he was inside the car, the man had a bag placed over his head and had a handgun put to his back by a second person in the car. He was ordered to give the PIN for this ATM card, police said.
The robber drove to a nearby Chase ATM at Desplaines and Kinzie streets and withdrew money before dropping off the man and fleeing, police said. The robber wore a face mask while in the ATM vestibule, shielding his face from surveillance cameras, according to photos released by police.
The Acura possibly had temporary Illinois plates.
