CHICAGO — A puppy rescued through the One Tail at a Time shelter is representing Chicago in this year’s Puppy Bowl.

Bevil is a miniature pinscher, Yorkshire terrier and Chihuahua mix who’s 16 weeks old. He’ll serve as a backup player for Team Ruff, who are taking on Team Fluff during Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl.

One Tail at a Time is a Logan Square-based no-kill shelter for dogs in need of permanent and foster homes.

Bevil — who has been adopted and renamed Toast, according to the Tribune — will be the lone pup representing Chicago.

The televised event brings attention to rescue shelters from across the United States. Viewers can see puppies playing with toys while watching — or instead of watching — the Super Bowl.

The Puppy Bowl kicks off 2 p.m. Sunday on Animal Planet.
