ROGERS PARK — A 27-year-old South Side man has been charged with sexually abusing and robbing a woman on the Red Line in Rogers Park, according to police.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Jan. 2, a 24-year-old woman was riding a northbound Red Line train toward Morse Avenue when she saw a man who had exposed his genitals, police said in a community alert.

The woman changed rail cars, but the man followed her and hit her several times, police said. The man then inappropriately touched the woman and demanded she perform an “inappropriate act,” police said at the time.

The man stole the woman’s belongings and exited the train at the Morse Avenue stop.

Surveillance footage of the alleged attacker was included in a community alert sent out by police shortly after the attack. Detectives were able to identify the man through the photos, and he was arrested Wednesday in the 6700 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, police said.

Antoine Jackson, 27, has been charged with one count of felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse, one count of felony attempted criminal sexual assault, one count of felony aggravated battery and one count of felony robbery.

Jackson, of the 6600 block of South Evans Avenue, was due in court Thursday.
