HUMBOLDT PARK — A man was found dead in a Humboldt Park alley early Tuesday, according to police.
Police found the man, 43, with a gunshot wound in his head just after 6 a.m. in an alley in the 2900 block of West North Avenue, said Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Spicuzza.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene, Spicuzza said.
Neighbor Erica Binelli was walking through the alley around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday when she came across a “massive pool of blood” and biohazard bags — “but no crime scene tape or any other signs that it was the site of a homicide.”
“It’s unsettling to have that happen so close to home, and I was also a bit alarmed that the scene hadn’t been cleaned or blocked off or anything,” Binelli said in an email.
“There’s a lot of kids who live in the neighborhood so I hope none of them happened upon it.”
Spicuzza said no one is in custody and an investigation is ongoing.
