WEST LOOP — A company aiming to open a weed dispensary on Randolph Street has postponed its community meeting until next month in West Loop.
Initially planned for Wednesday night, Natural Care Company will now share its plans for 810 W. Randolph St. at a 6 p.m. community meeting Thursday, Feb. 6 at Revel Fulton Market, 1215 W. Fulton Market St., according to a letter sent neighbors.
The meeting was initially scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 15, according to a previous letter sent to residents.
Asked about the last-minute date change, Howard Schacter, a spokesman for Nature Care Company, said the new date worked better.
“The process is fluid and dates change in a fluid process,” Schacter said.
The company needs a zoning change as part of the lengthy process of getting approved to sell recreational weed.
Last week, six companies submitted zoning requests for dispensaries at 20 locations across the city, according to the Sun-Times.
Windy City Cannabis submitted zoning applications to open a shop at various West Loop locations including 807 W. Randolph St. No two shops can open within 1,500 of each other.
