DOWNTOWN — The Shedd Aquarium has released its schedule of free days for 2020.
The aquarium at 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive will have free admission for all Illinois residents during dozens of days throughout the year — including an all-free February on weekdays, according to the aquarium.
Those who want free admission will need to show proof of residency, and there’s a $3 transaction fee for residents who reserve free day tickets online.
The Shedd is typically open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays.
Here’s the schedule of free days:
January
Free Jan. 16-20 with hours extended until 9 p.m. Jan. 20.
February
Free Monday-Friday throughout February with hours extended until 9 p.m. Feb. 17.
June
June 16-16 and 22-23 with hours extended until 7 p.m. on free days.
August
Aug. 24-25 with hours extended until 7 p.m. on free days.
September
Sept. 8-9, 14-16, 21-23 and 28-30. Some days will have extended hours, with more information available online.
October
Oct. 5-7 with hours extended until 9 p.m. on Oct. 6.
