LOGAN SQUARE — Chicago-based cookie company Sweet Shot Cookies is opening its first retail storefront on Logan Square’s Armitage Avenue.

The cookie shop is coming to 3211 W. Armitage Ave., the company announced on Instagram Monday. Opening day is planned for Jan. 25.

“We’re so extremely excited to announce after two years of insanely hard work, we will be opening a retail location!!” the post reads.

Sweet Shot is all about cookies stuffed with gooey fillings like marshmallow fluff and dark chocolate ganache, according to its website.

The cookies come pre-filled unless you opt for the do-it-yourself option which allows you to inject the cookies with filling on your own with a syringe.

Sweet Shot also sells an array of cookie cakes starting at $30, according to its website.

Sweet Shot is the latest business to join a booming stretch of Armitage Avenue. L.A.-based clothing line Big Bud Press recently announced that it will open a new shop across the street.

Sweet Shot was founded by 24-year-old Hallie Schwartz.
Growing up in suburban Highland Park, Schwartz loved to bake with her mom and aunt. But it wasn’t until 2017 after she graduated from Tulane University with a degree in finance that she took that passion to the next level and created an Instagram business.

“I didn’t really think anything of it at the time. I thought I’d start an Instagram for fun while I try to figure out what I’m going to do with the rest of my life,” Schwartz said.

Schwartz’s Instagram blew up. With orders piling up, Schwartz moved the business out of her apartment and into a commercial kitchen.

Schwartz learned of the Logan Square storefront through a family friend and jumped at the opportunity to join the bustling block.

“Logan Square is just so big right now,” she said.

When it opens, Sweet Shot will sell individual cookies ranging in price from $3.75 to $4 and packs of pre-filled cookies (six for $22.50), as well as do-it-yourself packs of cookies that come with a syringe.

Schwartz said to expect some special cookies that will only be sold in the store and not on Sweet Shot’s website. Cookie cakes will be sold whole or as slices.

Schwartz said other bakers are injecting cookies and cupcakes with gooey fillings, but hers are “very gourmet.”

“But even though they’re gourmet,” she added, “they taste like a great homemade cookie.”
