GREEKTOWN — Thieves stole a car from a parking lot after swiping keys from valet booth over the weekend in Greektown, police say.

At 3 p.m. Saturday, two unknown men drove up to a valet booth in the 800 block of West Adams Street, broke the window and took an unknown number of car keys from inside the booth, said Officer Jessica Alvarez, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Police Department.

One man jumped into a gray Hyundai Sonata parked in the lot, and drove “erratically through the parking lot to make his escape as bystanders tried to stop him, Alvarez said.

The man hit another vehicle in the lot and a fence before escaping south on Green Street, Alvarez said

No one is in custody and Area Central Detectives are investigating.
